After 15 years building tech expertise at leading companies across the UK, Singapore, and Australia, our founder, Samay Kumar Muduli, moved to New Zealand in 2016. Living away from family, he rented out spare rooms in his Auckland home. Bookings came easily but managing guests was chaotic. That’s when BookOne was born, initially to simplify guest management for his own property.
What started as a small experiment quickly became a mission. As more guests arrived, reliance on third-party platforms and their high commission fees grew. Samaya focused on attracting direct bookings via his website and Google My Business. Within six months, 60% of bookings were direct, lowering costs and boosting revenue.
When COVID-19 hit, Samaya saw opportunity. He bootstrapped BookOne into a full hospitality management suite, empowering property owners to control bookings, revenue, and guest experiences without being tied to third-party fees.
BookOne kept evolving — from a small experiment into an ecosystem: PMS, Channel Manager, Booking Engine, CRM, POS, and Revenue Management. Every feature came from real hotelier challenges and feedback.
Today, BookOne powers 400+ active hotels across 40+ cities, with 25+ integrations and a mission that started from a few spare rooms. What began as a personal solution is now helping hoteliers worldwide take back control of their bookings and guest experiences.
